Abstract
This article contains the assesment of an educational experience with preschool age children who live in a marginal area of Mexico City. The objectives of this project were, firstly, to compare the level of development of children in diferent kindergartens, who live in different ecological and cultural contexts. Secondly, to detect those aspects in the children’s educational process which should be treated in order to counteract the cultural deficiencies which obstruct their achievement in the elementary school. Finally, to verify the degree in which parents can participate in their children’s educational process. The aim of the project was to define the possibilities of avoiding the negative effects of social and cultural deficiencies in child development.
